About
Phaneendra K. Yalavarthy is a Professor in the Department of Computational and Data Sciences (CDS) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. He also serves as Chief Project Manager and Lead for Breast Cancer at TANUH (Translational AI for Networked Universal Healthcare), an AI Centre of Excellence under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, hosted at IISc.

His research focuses on the development and application of artificial intelligence and computational methods for medical imaging, with particular interests in medical image reconstruction and analysis, perfusion imaging, inverse problems in imaging, digital rock imaging, and cyber-physical systems. His work integrates advanced mathematical modelling, machine learning, and imaging science to address complex challenges in healthcare and engineering.

He serves as Convenor of the Medical Imaging Group (MIG) and is a faculty associate in interdisciplinary mathematical sciences at IISc. Through these roles, he contributes to fostering interdisciplinary collaborations and advancing research in imaging sciences.
