About
Professor Siddharthan Chandran is Director of the UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) and a Visiting Faculty Member at the Centre for Brain Research (CBR), IISc. An internationally recognised neurologist and neuroscientist, he is a leading researcher in neurodegenerative diseases, with particular expertise in motor neuron disease (MND) and multiple sclerosis (MS).

His work spans clinical and laboratory research, with a strong focus on regenerative neurology and the use of human and patient-derived stem cells to understand disease mechanisms and advance new therapeutic approaches. At the University of Edinburgh, he also serves as Director of the Euan MacDonald Centre for Motor Neuron Disease Research and the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic.

Professor Chandran is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Academy of Medical Sciences and has made significant contributions to translating insights from fundamental neuroscience into clinically relevant approaches to neurodegenerative disease.
